LOUISVILLE, Ky. - WindStream Technologies Inc., maker of highly efficient and low-cost micro-wind turbines for urban, suburban and off-grid environments, was recognized Wednesday (March 31) with a Vogt Invention and Innovation Award by the Community Foundation of Louisville and GLI's ENTERPRISECORP.
The awards recognize companies that display excellence in product innovation and provide engineers, scientists and entrepreneurs with grant money to fund the product development and commercialization of their ideas.

WindStream Technologies, located in the Purdue Research Park of Southeast Indiana in New Albany, was founded less than two years ago. The company already is gaining recognition for its efforts in bringing affordable and scalable wind energy to mainstream urban environments. The company's products, "TurboMills," offer a flexible, affordable and easily renewable energy solution without the cost, space requirements and installation issues associated with traditional wind energy devices. The company is optimizing its product design and will begin production and expansion into new markets during the latter half of this year.
WindStream Technologies received the award based on criteria such as innovative content, technical excellence, strategic business planning, competitive positioning, potential market value, time to market, and anticipated social and economic benefits for the Greater Louisville area.
WindStream Technologies was recognized at the State of Entrepreneurship Breakfast hosted by ENTERPRISECORP.
