Eastbrook Community Wind Energy Network
To unite community and school in a project that provides Eastbrook students with university-class alternative energy data for classroom use. To motivate K-12 students to look to a future of alternative energy while challenging them to conserve now.
With a data integration hub at Taylor University, the proposed network is composed of WindStream vertical wind turbines at 6 locations: each of the 3 school buildings of the Eastbrook Community School Corporation, Grant County, Indiana, and the Eastbrook communities of Matthews, Upland, and Van Buren. This 14kw network stretches across 16 miles of variable terrain creating an expanding base of wind energy data for analysis and research.
The Eastbrook Wind Energy Project is utilizing WindStream Technologies’ TurboMills® to offset their energy needs. To make this dream come true, Eastbrook needs assistance. The projected budget is approximately $30,000.
As the Eastbrook Wind Energy Project develops, they would like to meet the following deadlines outlined below. These are tentative deadlines which are dependent upon funding resources garnered over the next year.
Feb 1 Begin fundraising
Apr 1 Order wind turbines for 3 school sites ($ 15,000 required)
May 1 Begin school site installations
Jun 1 Order wind turbines for municipal sites ($ 9,000 required)
Jul 1 Begin municipal site installations
Aug 1 Begin testing entire network
